GCU 2024 FILM FESTIVAL POSTER

Overview
The Grand Canyon University (GCU) 2024 Film Festival poster served as one of the Film Department’s key promotional pieces for the university’s annual celebration of student filmmaking. Designed to capture the excitement and creativity of the event, the poster was widely distributed across GCU’s campus, helping to generate awareness and engagement. My work on this project involved developing a visually compelling design that reflected the festival’s dynamic energy while maintaining brand consistency.
Design Process
Concept Development: The design was inspired by the essence of storytelling through film, incorporating cinematic elements to create a visually engaging composition.
Visual Aesthetic: A bold color palette and striking typography were used to draw attention, while imagery and layout choices ensured a modern, professional feel.
Brand Alignment: The poster adhered to GCU’s branding while incorporating creative elements that made it unique to the festival. Consistency in typography, colors, and logos ensured seamless integration with other promotional materials.
Challenges
One of the primary challenges was designing a poster that not only stood out but also effectively conveyed the spirit of the festival. Balancing creativity with clear communication was key, ensuring that the design was both eye-catching and informative. Additionally, ensuring consistency with other festival promotions required strategic design decisions.
Outcome
As one of the Film Department’s primary promotional pieces, the poster played a crucial role in building excitement for the 2024 Film Festival. It successfully captured the festival’s theme and was displayed across campus, helping to increase awareness and participation. The design was also featured in the GCU 2024-2025 Center for the Arts season brochure on pages 28 and 30, further solidifying its impact.
Conclusion
Designing the GCU 2024 Film Festival poster provided valuable experience in promotional design and strategic visual communication. The project allowed me to merge creativity with branding, resulting in a compelling piece that contributed to the festival’s overall success.
